Breast Cancer Foundation NZ has developed a risk calculator to determine the risk of a woman developing breast cancer in the next five years.
This calculator is designed only for use in unscreened asymptomatic women aged 25-54 years, and is not to be used for diagnostic purposes. All women with concerning symptoms must be investigated according to best practice.
This calculator is not recommended for use in women who may have a BRCA gene mutation. The calculator does not incorporate genetic risk or family history. Physicians of women with a strong family history of breast cancer or ovarian cancer should follow best practice guidelines for risk management and not rely on a risk predictor.
