Continuing medical education

Breast Cancer Foundation NZ has a free online education course intended for GPs, nurses and other health professionals interested in breast cancer management.

This online course has been developed to review current management of breast cancer signs and symptoms, genetic risk and treatments. The modules include video demonstrations, case studies and self-assessments.

Each learning module has been endorsed by The Royal NZ College of General Practitioners andhas been approved for 1.0 hour CME for General Practice Educational Programme Stage 2 (GPEP2) and Maintenance of Professional Standards.

Health professionals can access the modules on the Breast Cancer Foundation NZ website. Breast Cancer Foundation NZ also has a brochure about the online learning course for health professionals and medical clinics. Order these for free here.

Module 1

Managing breast signs and symptoms

Learn more about the management of breast lumps, breast skin and nipple changes, nipple discharge and breast pain.

Module 2

Familial breast cancer in the primary care setting

Refresh your knowledge of cancer genetics and breast cancer inheritance.

Module 3

Treatment for breast cancer and managing complications

Review common breast cancer treatments and complications and enhance the service you provide to your patients.

Module 4

Advanced breast cancer

Learn about the clinical management and supportive care of advanced breast cancer (ABC) patients. Includes risk of cancer recurrence, detection, common treatments, symptom control and psychosocial support.
